Venture Capital: Update Synapse
Tech
Turin MFO promoted a chat about trends and challenges of investments in Venture Capital (VC).
Led by Wolney Betiol, founder of Synapse Ventures, Rodrigo Louro, CEO of Turim UK and Avanish Sahai, Venture Partner of Synapse, also joined in.
Among the highlights, Louro highlighted the drop in valuations of high-growth companies, especially technology. However, Rodrigo recalls that crises and challenging environments can be opportunities for innovation:
“Whether for incumbent companies to review their businesses and take advantage of it to mop up excesses, there is opportunities for young and innovative companies as well. This is the time to think outside the box”, explains the partner.
Regarding the venture capital market, Betiol recalls that, in recent years, it has reached new spaces and attracted non-traditional investors – in particular, through crossover funds (funds that invest in various asset classes).
“And it is precisely these investors, who are not entirely linked to Venture Capital, that have diminished. Our capital will always be allocated in managers focused on VC and who have the ability to create, develop and expand technology companies globally”, said Betiol.
With extensive experience in cloud platforms and go-to-market ecosystems, Avanish also highlighted the cybersecurity industry as a major trend in the VC landscape. For the executive, despite the complexities of the area, we will still see many innovations and investments ahead.
