In Stock Pickers #107 episode, our CIO Leonardo Martins and one of the managers who made the most money in Brazil in 2020 (and it is worth mentioning that he continues to make money in 2021) were invited to say that it is possible to invest in social impact products (which seeks to help those in need) and invest in the best funds in Brazil, all at the same and in the same place.
One of the guests was Bruno Garcia, manager of Truxt Investimentos whose long-biased fund finished 2020 with a 45% return. He presented his vision for the global scenario and pointed out Brazil’s opportunities and problems before commenting on the main stock invested by his fund. In the segment “a thesis in two minutes”, Garcia was so concise that he managed to talk about two companies: Petz (PETZ3) and PetroRio (PRIO3).
The other guest, Leonardo Martins, our CIO, talked about the investment made in Robinhood, which debuted on the US stock exchange this Thursday at a valuation of US$ 32 billion. Leo made his first investment in the company when its valuation was US$250 million, which means a return of 12,700% over the IPO price.
In the first part of the program, they also talked about the VRB family funds, which are FoFs that allocate 100% of the post-payment fees of costs to the philanthropic institution VRB, which has already raised overof R$ 10 million since the start of the project in 2016. Leo Martins is one of the members of the investment committee of VRB and Truxt, de Garcia, is one of the managers that are part of the VRB’s FoFs – there are 3 types of funds : VRB Multimercado, VRB Ações and VRB Previdência.
The initiative caused large funds that have been closed for a long time to agree to make a punctual openings. In addition to Truxt, houses such as Atmos, Sharp, Velt, Távola, SPX, among others, are also part of the funds.
