Global inflationary pressures and central banks challenges were the main themes that guided our May webinar.
Against a backdrop of supply shocks, new lockdowns in China – impacting the supply chain – and heated labor markets in several locations (in particular, the US), there is persistent pressure on inflation. This movement is observed in several sectors, especially energy and food.
By showing a heat map, our strategist Nelson Abrahao highlights how uncomfortably high inflation is a phenomenon observed around the world.
“The need to combat these pressures and achieve a soft landing in economic activity is the great challenge, as illustrated in the most recent decision of the Central Bank of England, which revised inflation well upwards and started to predict a slight recession next year” , explains.
